A visitor from the past

The Great Fire of London!

It all began innocently enough in the early hours of September 2nd, in the bakery of Thomas Farriner on Pudding Lane. A small spark, neglected in the dead of night, soon ignited into an inferno that would engulf the city in flames.

Fuelled by the wooden structures and narrow streets, the fire spread with alarming speed, consuming everything in its path. For four days and nights, the blaze raged unchecked, leaving devastation in its wake. Over 13,000 houses, 87 churches, and countless other buildings were reduced to ash.

But amidst the chaos and destruction, stories of heroism emerged. Ordinary citizens turned firefighters, forming human chains to pass buckets of water in a desperate attempt to quench the flames. King Charles II himself joined the efforts, ordering the demolition of buildings to create firebreaks and halt the fire's advance.

Let it be a reminder of the strength of the human spirit in the face of adversity, and the importance of preparedness and unity in times of crisis.
