Physical Education at St Saviour's
At St Saviour's , we believe that all children should be entitled to a balanced and broad Physical Education curriculum in which they are given help to realise to their full potential in all aspects of physical activity.
Physical Education plays a vital role in child's development. The focus for learning is upon the child and their mastery of skills in Physical Education . The curriculum at St Saviour's is designed to enable all children to participate in a wide range of activities thus enabling them to enhance their knowledge, understanding and ability to apply physical skills.
Furthermore, the children will be encouraged to work safely and independently, whilst learning to understand the longer term benefits of regular physical activity.
Physical development in the foundation stage is about improving skills of coordination, control, manipulation and movement. KS1 children learn through aspects of dance, gym and games while KS2 children learn through, net and wall games, striking and fielding games, invasion games and athletics.
In addition we advocate both the effective use of the curriculum and extra-curricular activities through clubs before, during and after school. The children are given this opportunity so that they can appreciate their own and others' achievements but most importantly enjoy the experience of participating in sports .
Clubs run regularly after school. These change on a termly basis and include a variety of choices from basketball ,football ,dance and multi-sports. These are delivered by qualified coaches from different fields of sports.
