School Council

Our School Council members represent the views of pupils and help to make our school a better place for everyone. They listen to ideas and concerns from their classes, share these with staff and work together to bring about positive change. School Councillors also lead and support assemblies, helping to communicate key messages, celebrate achievements and promote our school values with confidence and pride.

Our School Councillors - 2025-26

Power for Good: School Councillors in Action

Our School Councillors put themselves forward to deliver an assembly during Anti-Bullying Week. The key message was Power for Good and councillors confidently used role-play to explore different scenarios and promote positive choices. This was a strong example of excellent oracy skills, with pupils speaking clearly, using appropriate language and engaging the audience effectively.

Children's Mental Health Week – THIS IS MY PLACE

Our School Councillors took a leading role in Mental Health Week by delivering a whole‑school assembly that helped pupils understand the importance of looking after their wellbeing. They confidently presented key messages about emotions, self‑care and kindness, and guided the school in reflecting on how we can support our own mental health and each other. Their thoughtful delivery and teamwork helped set a positive tone for the week and showed the impact of pupil leadership in promoting a caring, supportive school community.

Christmas Performance

Our School Councillors enjoyed a fantastic visit to Saltley Academy this week, where they were invited to watch the school’s Christmas performance. The children represented our school beautifully and were inspired by the talented performers on stage. It was a wonderful opportunity for them to experience a festive production, build links with another school and bring back new ideas to share with our school community.

Newsletter

Our School Councillors and Reading Ambassadors came together with an exciting mission: to report on the wonderful events taking place across our school. Inspired by the idea of sharing good news and celebrating achievements, they decided to create a school newsletter.

Working as real journalists, the children researched, drafted and edited their own articles. Their writing showcases not only their talents but also their pride in our school community.

It has been fantastic to see our pupils lead this project with such enthusiasm and creativity. A huge well done to our young reporters for demonstrating teamwork, responsibility and exceptional writing skills!
