World Book Week

Book Week 2026

St Saviour’s was once again filled with excitement and creativity as we celebrated World Book Week 2026 with a fantastic line-up of activities designed to inspire a love of reading across the whole school.

Throughout the week, pupils had the opportunity to take part in live author events, where they heard first-hand about the magic of storytelling and the journey from imagination to published book. These sessions sparked curiosity and encouraged pupils to think about their own creative ideas and stories.

Every year group also enjoyed engaging storytelling workshops, bringing books to life through expressive reading, discussion, and creative activities. From our youngest pupils to our oldest readers, everyone had the chance to explore new stories and celebrate the joy that books can bring.

One of the highlights of the week was our Book Character Mask Competition. Pupils designed and created incredible masks inspired by their favourite literary characters. The creativity on display was truly impressive and it was wonderful to see so many imaginative interpretations of beloved book figures across the school.

The week concluded with a very special World Book Week assembly, packed with fun and surprises where our Reading Ambassadors led part of the celebration, confidently presenting and demonstrating excellent oracy skills. Pupils enjoyed an exciting quiz, took part in the Masked Readers challenge and we proudly announced the winners of the Book Character Mask Competition.

Adding a touch of magic to the celebration, Olaf and Elsa made a special appearance, delighting pupils with a surprise visit and performance that had the whole hall buzzing with excitement.

To round off the celebrations, pupils took part in a unique dress-up day, coming to school dressed as something they aspire to be in the future.

World Book Week 2026 was a wonderful reminder that reading can open doors to imagination, creativity and even future possibilities. A big thank you to our staff, pupils, and families for making the week such a memorable celebration of books and learning.

Book Week 2025

What an unforgettable week we had at St Saviour's for World Book Week! Our school was buzzing with excitement as pupils showed off their acting skills in drama and poetry workshops, while diving into live author events that sparked their imaginations. And let’s not forget the thrilling quizzes that had everyone on the edge of their seats!

The grand finale? A costume extravaganza! From superheroes to magical creatures, pupils brought their favourite book characters to life with creative mash-up costumes – and guess who showed up to join the fun? The one and only Beauty and the Beast made a surprise appearance!

The excitement didn’t stop there! We were blown away by the incredible talent showcased in our ‘Book Cover’ competition, where pupils displayed their artistic flair and passion for reading. We were so proud to hand out well-deserved prizes to those with the most imaginative designs.

A huge thank you to all the parents who continue to support our mission to foster a love of reading – your enthusiasm makes all the difference! Here's to many more adventures in the world of books.

Book Week 2024

What a week it was! It all started with 2 days of amazing workshops. Each class was tasked with performing different parts of the Alice in Wonderland story. It all culminated in a final performance for all to watch.

Our theme this year was ‘Unleash the Power of Imagination’, and we believe that encouraging our children to dress up as characters who inspire them or represent their aspirations was a wonderful way to bring this theme to life.

Character Junk Modelling Competition. So tough to pick the winners. All entries were brilliant! Thank you to all.

WORLD BOOK DAY (previous years)

A range of book characters flooded the corridors, classrooms and even the school hall as children dressed up in their favourite characters as part of World Book Week at St Saviour's.

Not only children but staff also dressed up.  It was a wonderful sight!
